Playtime

Is it a playsuit, a rompersuit or an all-in-one? Being an oldster I'm inclined to call this denim thingy a jumpsuit. My Mum bought me my first one in 1976, it was grey with bell bottoms and a Charlies' Angels badge on the breast pocket. She had a bit of a thing about jumpsuits, my dear Mum. I had a Lee Bender for Bus Stop one in khaki satin when I became a teenager, don't know what's happened to either of them now, unfortunately.

I thought I'd wear another of my Salvation Army finds today. This snazzy polyester chain print blouse is 1970's St Michael and set me back £1.25.

These grey patent "Wylie" wedges were in TopShop's sale ages ago and set me back a tenner. I love platforms to distraction. I've won the most astounding pair of vintage boots on eBay this week, I can't wait for them to arrive.

Denim Jumpsuit (Birmingham Rag Market), Blouse (Salvation Army), Leather Gladstone bag (Jumble Sale), Navy Nordiska belt (Car Boot Sale), Wedges (TopShop), Pendants (Salvation Army and Banardos), Bangles & Rings (India and Inherited), Hair (My own with some Bump-It support)

Thanks so much for yesterday's comments and compliments, I'm overwhelmed and immensely flattered. I eat like a pig and drink like a fish and over the last three months my normally strict regime of 30 minutes of exercise a day has fallen by the wayside. I can't explain the lack of cellulite; vegetarianism, lots of walking or just good genes?

  1. Dear Vix,
my money is on the good genes, cause I'm vegan & my thighs are 'cellulite central' but an active lifestyle deffo helps keeping the lumpy fat at bay too.
I've just returned from the post office & so now there's a small parcel winging its merry way to you & it should arrive within the next day or two.
I'm a great lover of the jumpsuit, as you know ;)
Great outfit, immaculately styled as per usual!

  3. Dear Vix, I would call that a jumpsuit too but as it has straps it's a bit like fitted dungarees too. I love your wedges, I can't resist them either and they're easier to get around on than stilettos xx

  4. I'm a platform and wedge fan too and really like your grey patent ones; they go well with the jumpsuit. I can't wait to see your vintage boots when they arrive though! I love boots, especially those tall tan leather '70s ones with the stacked wooden heels.

  5. I would call it a jumpsuit, I don't really like the word romper, probably because I associate it with babies. This look is so wonderful on you.

It's got me thinking I used to have a lovely pair of floral dungarees when I was around 8years old, I must have worn them non stop, I just loved the idea of a dungaree, instead of boring trousers.

Wonderful St Michael find there also xx

  7. Good old St Michael! And a khaki satin jumpsuit, you say? Hope you find it - sounds wild!

  8. Khaki satin - awesome! Unfortunately I can only associate jumpsuits with the truly awful utilitarian things with shoulder pads my Mum used to wear in the 80s. Maybe I need to open my mind to them again...

And those shoes are aaaamazing and the perfect shade of gray, or is it grey?
I always have great luck at the Salvation Army or Goodwill. I could easily spent tons of cash there and i too would pick a charity store over a mall shop any day of the year ;0

  28. You must have good genes or just blessed :)
So so cute jumpsuit too Vix. you find awesome finds, you have a good eye when shopping that's for sure. xxx

  29. I say definitely a jumpsuit. To me a playsuit has shorts, not proper trouser legs. And a romper is either something babies wear or a weird American term.

Anyway, it's gorgeous! I've just treated myself to a dagger collar blouse from a charity shop - hope I look as good in it as you do in this one.

  31. I love it! I call it a jumpsuit too, and I am insanely jealous that you had a bell-bottomed one with a Charlie's Angels badge! This looks fab, when it warms up a bit there you could probably wear it without a blouse underneath, no? YOU could pull it off, my dear! Sex-ay! Cheers!

  36. Very cute outfits...I think we've (Americans) have forgotten that 'thrifting' comes from the word 'thrift'.
And anyway, I think people ought to be proud to be save money...it goes against the silly, materialistic I-need-more culture that has become the mainstream.
